Rental Terms & Conditions.

We’re so happy you’re renting our gear! This is going to be awesome, and we can’t wait to put together a great film for you. Please review the following rental terms and conditions carefully. Booking a camera kit with Rewind Retro means that you accept and agree to the following terms and conditions, including any and all late fees, additional charges, and penalties.

TLDR:

We can’t guarantee what/how things get filmed, we create a film using what we’re given, camcorders aren’t immune from random errors and there isn’t a professional on site to fix yours if it stops working, you’re liable if the camcorder is broken, lost, or stolen, and we aren’t liable if something happens to the camera or footage during shipping or delivery.

  • -The footage at your event is not captured by professionals and will therefore not be professional quality footage

    -While we at Rewind can provide ideas and resources for using the camera, we cannot guarantee what is captured and/or how it is captured

    -What is captured is entirely up to you & your friends/guests at your event and we edit using what is provided

    -We are not responsible if limited or no footage is captured and will not provide a refund in this case; for example, if you leave the camcorder in your hotel room all day and nothing is filmed, that’s a shame, but we cannot provide a refund for the service

    -We are not responsible if memory cards are lost or stolen, and/or if the clips are deleted from the camera, if the memory card is formatted, or if any other user error had occurred that results in a loss of footage before the camcorder is returned to us

    -The audio captured by the camcorders is not professional quality; the camcorders should not be relied upon to capture quality audio of important moments (like a wedding ceremony or speeches)

    -Footage is not corrected during the editing process, meaning no colour correction, stabilization, or other similar adjustments are made to the footage in post production; what you film is what you get

    -In editing, we utilize only the footage captured on the camcorder, and will not incorporate other kinds of footage or media in your films

  • -We create an approximately 1-minute highlight reel using the best shots in the footage captured on the camcorder. We set this reel to a song of your choice (from our databse) and edit creatively using our judgement and professional eye.

    -We also stitch all the footage captured on the camcorder together into one long film. This encompasses everything captured (chronologically) and is not set to music or creatively edited.

    -Both films are delivered digitally for you to download and save

    -We will not archive or store copies of the films and are not responsible for replacement of footage six months after delivery

    -Films are delivered approximately 3 weeks after the return of our equipment unless otherwise agreed

  • The equipment provided is tested, maintained, and serviced regularly, but camera and electronic equipment can be sensitive and things can go wrong. Note that equipment failures may occur, including: camera failures, battery failures, memory card failures, and other equipment failures. While we include back-up cards and batteries, as well as an emergency number to call if your camera stops working, if an error occurs that cannot be resolved and/or the camera is not operable for all or a portion of your event due to an equipment malfunction or failure not caused by the operator, we will refund your money for the rental but are not liable for compensation beyond that.

  • -If the camera or any of the provided equipment is lost, stolen, or damaged during the period of your rental, you are liable for the cost of repair or replacement. The extent of the repair or replacement cost will be determined by us, to a maximum of $1500. Lost memory cards will be charged at $30 per card, lost or damaged batteries will be charged at $90 per battery, a lost or damaged battery charger will be charged at $50, a lost or damaged carrying bag will be charged at $100, and a lost or damaged camcorder will be charged at up to $1100.

    -You hold the responsibility to carry insurance (if you desire) for all items rented as our insurance does not cover items out of our possession.

    -We are not responsible for creating a film or providing any deliverables if the equipment has been lost, stolen, or damaged to the extent that we cannot access the footage.

  • -The equipment is due back the day after your event unless otherwise agreed upon. A late fee of $100 per day will be charged for any equipment not shipped or returned, up to a maximum of 15 days, at which point we will consider the camera lost and will invoice you for its replacement. In the case of lost equipment, we will not provide a film if we cannot access the footage.

  • Cancellations are permitted up until 30 days prior to the rental date with a full refund. Cancellations made less than 30 days but more than 15 days are subject to a 50% cancellation fee. Cancellations made less than 15 days are subject to 100% of rental fees charged.

  • -It’s your responsibility to notify all guests/attendees/subjects that they will be filmed and that content may be shared online.

    -You acknowledge that you’ve reviewed our body of work and understand that the final product you receive will be similar in style, approach, and outcome to the rest of our body of work.

    -You acknowledge and accept that we retain creative control in the production of final films, including (but not limited to): music selection (if not selected by client), shot selection, and film style, within the parameters of the agreed-upon deliverables.

  • We ship cameras across Canada using a shipping partner (FedEx, Canada Post, or another delivery service). While we aim to ensure that all cameras are delivered on time and to the correct location, we are not liable for any delays or errors made by the third-party delivery company. If a camera is lost during shipping on the way to you, we’ll send another as quickly as possible. If a camera is lost in shipping on its way back to us, you will not be charged for its loss, however we are unable to access the captured footage and are unable to replace it. In this case, we will refund your rental fee, but are not responsible for any additional damages or compensation.
