It’s easy! Just use the “Book a Camera” button on our website, select the dates you want the camera for, enter your name and information, pay the deposit, and we’ll reserve your camera! Depending on where you live, we’ll either deliver or ship your camera, or we can coordinate a pick up in downtown Victoria. Filming with the cameras is easy — we want the booking process to be just as easy too!

You sure can! If you have a photographer or videographer booked for your event, that’s awesome. You’ll get professional coverage of your event. But, you also might want a camcorder for when the pros aren’t there - the BBQ the night before, getting ready in the early morning, or the dance party when the pros are gone! Camcorders allow you to capture totally different footage from what the pros capture, and so the two options complement each other well!

Our base package (3 day rental) is $1200 + shipping/delivery. This includes the rental of the camcorder pack, all the footage you capture, and a professionally edited film at the end. You can also choose to add more days, additional edits, and much more.

Our base package includes a 3-day rental, and you can definitely add on extra days! Take it with you for a week on a cruise, for 2 weeks on a family vacation, or a month on a backpacking trip! The options are endless!!! Our minimum rental time is 3 days to ensure that you get your camera in advance of your event and you can return it the day after, and we do not rent for fewer than 3 days.

We’ll ship anywhere in Canada! You can fill out your shipping address during the booking process and we’ll get your camera delivered to you the day before your rental period begins. We’ll also send you a return shipping label so you can send it back the day after your rental period ends!

We ship anywhere in Canada! Let us know where you’re located during the booking process and we’ll set up a delivery to your address. Cameras are shipped priority, tracked mail and must be shipped carefully because of the lithium ion batteries. We’ll arrange return shipping so all you have to do is put the camera back in the box when you’re done and send it back to us!

Yes! Just make sure to pack the batteries in your carry on luggage. Otherwise, you can travel with the camcorder kit wherever you’d like, and we’re excited to see what you capture!

If we shipped it out to you, we’ll include return shipping labels so you can just put it in the mail and it will arrive back at our warehouse.

Maybe not. You’ll need to check with the venue about their policies on filming. Many venues don’t let you bring video cameras in, including some sporting events and concerts. Double check before you take the camcorder with you!
filming & stuff

We use brand new Panasonic camcorders. This way we’re able to ensure they’re as reliable as possible (within reason - see “what happens if something goes wrong?” below) while still giving you that camcorder look, with all the movement and zoom ins of 90s home videos. We add the vibe in editing so that you can get the vintage look you love (or a black and white or modern vibe) while not having to worry about a 30 year old camcorder breaking down!

Not at all! These camcorders are set up so that a kid could use them (which we highly recommend, they get AWESOME footage, and also sometimes a lot of feet…) and our tutorials will help even the drunkest groomsman get the best/worst footage. This is not going to be a professional video (if you’re looking for that, check out our cool older cousins, Paper Heart Films), and that’s a huge part of the appeal.

To start, we use new camcorders and always include extra batteries and cards (which we regularly test and maintain) to make sure that everything is in tip top shape. But shit happens! If something seems off about your camcorder, first of all, try changing out the battery and the card. If that doesn’t fix it, call the support number we sent you. We’ll do everything we can to fix it, but if it can’t be fixed, we’ll refund your money. This isn’t something we anticipate happening, but unfortunately is part of the risk of not having a professional there with backup equipment. If you’re super nervous about that, you can always add a second camcorder to your order (which also allows you to film in two places at once)!

Honestly, the more the better! Seriously. Capture everything! The more footage we have to work with, the better your film will be. Logistically, we include 2 SD cards in your camera pack. This means you have a total of 10 hours of filming time with your camcorder to capture footage. This works well for most weddings, events, and vacations, but if you think you’ll need more time than that, talk to us about adding an extra SD card.

Don’t sweat! We’ll send over a Quick Start Guide with all the information you need, as well as a more detailed instruction manual. You’ll get those by email ahead of your booking, but we’ll also include a copy of the guide in your camcorder pack. Oh, and the camcorder has an instructions sticker right on it!
about your film

Once your films are edited and ready to go (about three weeks), we’ll send you an email with a download link. We highly recommend you back up your films in at least two different places - we’ll keep them backed up for six months, but after that, it’s all yours!

Yes - please do! Our standard highlight film is approximately 1-minute, but you can add an extended edit and we’ll do an approximately 3 minute film instead. This works well for people who capture a lot of great footage on the camcorder and just want to relive all the moments!

Our standard turn-around time is 3 weeks, though you can add a rush edit if you need it sooner than that.

Yes! The 1990s vibe is our default setting, but you can choose to have your film delivered in a Super 8 look, Black & White, No Filter, or all of the above!

Yes! For your highlight film, we exclusively use music that we can properly license, so that we’re not stealing from musicians and your film isn’t getting taken down off the internet (and no one gets sued). We have a big library of songs from our licensing site for you to choose from, so you can make sure you get just the vibe you want.

Frick no - we’re old school, baby! Honestly, AI has its place and time, but we value creating meaningful, lasting memories, and that takes a human touch. Definitely not! We’re creating films for you - while we like to share our films on our website and social media afterwards, we don’t have to, and you get to choose where/how your film is shared.
